{"id":69,"date":"2009-02-07T15:31:25","date_gmt":"2009-02-07T04:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nsrd.wordpress.com\/?p=69"},"modified":"2018-12-12T16:36:31","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T06:36:31","slug":"the-naming-of-backup-servers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nsrd.info\/blog\/2009\/02\/07\/the-naming-of-backup-servers\/","title":{"rendered":"The naming of backup servers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a big fan of <a title=\"RFC 1178\" href=\"http:\/\/rfc.giga.net.tw\/rfc1178\" target=\"_blank\">RFC-1178<\/a>; thus, I&#8217;m not too keen on backup server names such as say, nsrserv, bckmast01, unxserv134, etc. I guess it&#8217;s partly proof of how much of a geek I am at times, but I think backup servers need good names.<\/p>\n<p>Since backup is all about protection, I tend to look for names that reflect a general sense of protection.
