New features include:

Cloud DR: This introduces support for using Dell EMC’s Cloud DR functionality. In this process, virtual machine backups can be automatically transferred across to AWS S3 storage and during a disaster recovery situation, failed into an AWS EC2 instance. Just as importantly, you can use Cloud DR to orchestrate the fail-back when you’re ready to return the machine to on-premises. Cloud DR is designed to allow businesses to reduce their DR datacenter and equipment costs for compatible workloads, spinning up just-in-time resources in-cloud.

Support for VMC: ProtectPoint can now perform image based backup and recovery for VMC (VMware in AWS) workloads.

vSphere Plugin: The first version of the vSphere plugin is now available in PPDM 19.2. I’ll be showing this in an upcoming blog post.

Additional VMware support: New support options around how and where you can restore VMDKs, and VMware HA options.

Support for Storage Direct: The Storage Direct data protection functionality (‘ProtectPoint’ – Storage Integrated Data Protection) can now be integrated into a PPDM system as well, allowing PPDM management and monitoring of those high performance massive database workloads.

System enhancements, including: simple upgrade services, updated dashboards, updated job control, new filtering and searching options, etc.

As always, you can get access to everything you need for PowerProtect Data Manager at the support home for it, here.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Dell EMC on Data Protection product releases – you’d have thought the new…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1520
1533,1053
post-8438","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-powerprotect","tag-19-2","tag-upgrade
["GET
