{"id":9248,"date":"2020-01-27T09:52:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-26T23:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nsrd.info\/blog\/?p=9248"},"modified":"2020-01-27T09:53:04","modified_gmt":"2020-01-26T23:53:04","slug":"errata-updated-kvm-backup-script","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nsrd.info\/blog\/2020\/01\/27\/errata-updated-kvm-backup-script\/","title":{"rendered":"Errata \u2013 Updated KVM Backup Script"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So, when I was putting together a blog post last week on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nsrd.info\/blog\/2020\/01\/20\/basics-networker-compressed-recoveries\/\">NetWorker compressed recoveries<\/a><\/strong>, I noticed the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nsrd.info\/blog\/2018\/11\/06\/a-simple-linux-kvm-backup-framework-using-networker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"KVM Backup script (opens in a new tab)\">KVM Backup script<\/a><\/strong> I&#8217;d put together had a bug in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A while ago, I&#8217;d updated the <em>savekvm.pl<\/em> script to include support for tagging backups as coming from a cluster. That way, in an environment featuring multiple KVM servers, you could tag all backups as coming from a single location, making it easier to find virtual machines for recovery when they move around between hosts.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-gif aligncenter\">\n\t\t<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-gif-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top:55%\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<iframe src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/1NRV43DA8VqVBFopaT\" title=\"broken\"><\/iframe>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<figcaption class=\"wp-block-jetpack-gif-caption gallery-caption\">Sometimes a tweak creates a bug<\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/figure>\n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n\n<p>I tested the cluster backup functionality quite a bit, and even <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"did a blog post covering that change (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/nsrd.info\/blog\/2019\/02\/08\/updated-kvm-image-backup-script-for-networker\/\" target=\"_blank\">did a blog post covering that change<\/a><\/strong>.
