Well, PPDM is pretty serious about taking DR backups of itself – it’ll do it regularly. All you have to do is point it at a Data Domain.

And if you’re installing PPDM into a production environment, it’s likely you’ve already got a license file, waiting and ready to be installed.

So in the video below, you’ll see me step through both processes – it’s practically effortless!

Configuring PPDM DR Backup and License

Adding a vCenter Server to PPDM

Once you’ve got your PPDM server configured to perform DR backups, you’re ready to start diving in to protect systems. I’d estimate that most users will start with getting some VMware backups up and running, and that means adding a vCenter server as an asset source so you have access to all the VMs.

PPDM – Adding a vCenter Server

Configuring a Simple Virtual Machine Backup Policy

OK, so you’ve got your vCenter server added and you can see all the virtual machines in your vCenter as assets, waiting to be backed up. What’s next? Well, getting a basic policy for virtual machine backups up and running is a good starting point. In this video, I go through the process for creating a backup policy based on manual selection criteria and show off a few aspects to PPDM’s interface.

PPDM – Adding a VMware Backup Policy

Finishing Up

I’ve got more videos on the way, so be sure to check back soon.
